ISO 9001

Vela VKE has achieved full International Standards Organisation 9001 certification and is proud to display the South African Bureau of Standards ISO 9001 logo on our home page.

To ensure continued compliance we submit to regular internal audits and external SABS audits.

New staff are lectured on quality management  and each office has a quality forum which meets regularly to make quality an integral part of our business processes.

Occupational Health and Safety Act

“To provide for the health and safety of persons at work and for the health and safety of persons in connection with the use of plant and machinery; the protection of persons other than persons at work against hazards to health and safety arising out of or in connection with the activities of persons at work; to establish an advisory council for occupational health and safety; and to provide for matters connected therewith.”

We care about the safety of our staff and appreciate the need to provide pleasant working conditions for all. We furthermore insist on OHS Act compliance on our construction sites, in the interest of our staff, contractors and the broader community.

Design Standards

All our divisions design according to internationally accepted design standards as applicable for a specific project (country and client requirements)

For example, bridges are designed by our Structural Division according to

  • South African TMH7
  • European Eurocode
  • British BS5400
  • American AASHTOcodes etc.

We believe that  knowledge of and adherence to accepted standards is essential to the success of our business.
