The client’s objective, as the water and sanitation service provider for the City of Johannesburg, was to repair and/or rehabilitate collector and reticulation sewers, within the Eldorado Park and Soweto areas, forming part of the Klipspruit River Sewer Basin. Thus, minimising the number of blockage occurrences, water infiltration and root intrusions and therefore the operational and maintenance costs of sewers.

This bridge will integrate the rural communities on either side of the Buffalo River by providing a safe means of crossing. The slender and transparent design blends in extremely well and provides an aesthetic solution in the natural surrounds.

Road Upgrade Mountain Zebra National Park

This R11,5 million rand project in the Park is aimed at improving the existing gravel roads as well as creating new tourist routes. Altogether approximately 17km of new road is being constructed and 36km of existing road rehabilitated. New concrete drainage structures are also being constructed.

Rehabilitation of National Route N5 Section 4 between Senekal and Vaalpensspruit

All aspects of road rehabilitation and upgrading were included in this project.  Major geometrical improvements, four different pavement designs and several innovative drainage improvement methods formed part of the project.

Botshabelo Bucket Eradication

Vela VKE is currently busy with Bucket Eradication in Botshabelo for the Mangaung Local Municipality, Directorate: Water and Sanitation.

Botshabelo is located in the Free State Province, about 60km in a westerly direction from Bloemfontein. The Bucket Eradication Program forms part of the National Governments policy to phase out the bucket system and to ensure that all residents have access to healthy sanitation.
